Lake Placid, NY
Last summer with 12 of my girlfriends and my sister we traveled to Lake Placid. Lake Placid is a village in the Adirondack Mountains and is home to great skiing, hiking opportunities, and a winter sports history that boasts two Winter Olympic Games (@lakeplacidolympicsites). By far the best place to visit if you ever get a chance to make it to Lake Placid is @ausable_chasm! The Grand Canyon of the Adirondacks. Our weekend was filled with adventure – hiking, rock climbing, cliff jumping, zip lining at @experienceadkoutdoors, rafting and tubing float tours, and mountain scaling! Yes, mountain scaling 80’ above water! Strap on a harness and explore a region of the upper Ausable Chasm that is not accessible from any other trail. Walking over the raging river on this fully guided, unique via ferrata that features cable bridges, a cargo net climb, and edge walks. A via ferrata is a protected climbing route characterized by a steel cable that runs along the rock, offering a unique and awe-inspiring journey through the chasm. We enjoyed this trip so much my family and I went back this winter just to experience Lake Placid in the winter and it was just as fun staying at @mirrorlakeinn located on the shores of Mirror Lake and only a moments’ walk from the Lake Placid’s famous Main Street. Our winter trip consisted of Olympic bobsled rides, tobogganing, and dog sled rides!
