Cranberry Apple Galette with white chocolate drizzle

Want an alternative to pie? But also let’s make it easier with slightly less work? Okay, I’ve got you! This cranberry apple galette with white chocolate drizzle is what rustic meets elegant is all about. The simplistic beauty of a galette is unmatched! AND you still get all the yummy flavors of a pie. The white chocolate balances out the tartness from the green apples and cranberries, but if you want to go a step further, throw a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream on there! Trust me, you’ll be happy you did!

Ingredients

  • 3 green apples

  • 1/2 cranberries, fresh or frozen

  • 2 tbs sugar

  • 1 tbs brown sugar

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1 tbs lemon juice

  • 1 egg

  • homemade pie crust or store bought pie crust

  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Slice green apples about 1/4 of an inch thick

  2. In a large bowl, place apples, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and lemon juice. Give it a good stir to coat all of the apple slices. Set aside to allow juices to form while you roll out the pie dough

  3. Grab your pie dough, for my pie dough recipe click here, and flour the surface really well. Prep your rolling pin by rubbing flour all over it. Roll out your pie dough by pushing in the middle and lifting up the rolling pin as you get to the edges. Work it a continuous motion going from side to side. As you roll, make sure to lift up your pie dough every so often, to flip over and re-flour the surface. This will help avoid the dough from sticking to the countertop

  4. After you have rolled out the dough, place a 9 in plate into the pie dough. Lightly press and lift up. This will give the outline of where your apples should be positioned. Place your apples on the pie dough, in whatever design you would like. Top with cranberries

  5. Leaving a 2 inch lip from where the circumference of the apples are, cut around to remove the excess pie dough (you can save this extra to cut out designs with a pie cutter)

  6. Fold the 2 inch lip around the apples, placing it on top to create your edge

  7. Beat the egg and add a splash of water, apply the egg wash to all of the pie crust and sprinkle with turbinado sugar, I also like to sprinkle the turbinado sugar all over the apples and cranberries

  8. Place in a preheated oven at 375 degrees for 30 minutes

  9. While that is cooling, heat up the white chocolate in 20 second increments, stirring in between, until the white chocolate is melted. Drizzle over the galette and enjoy!
