Baked French Fries

Fun Fact about me: Every Wednesday I make guacamole and for a long time I would make these oven baked fries almost every Wednesday too! It’s a main staple in our household. However to be fully transparent, there’s really no recipe and no standards that I measure! It comes down to the basics - high quality sea salt, pepper, oil (I like avocado oil or extra virgin olive oil) and yummy, starchy potatoes like russet potatoes. It’s really that simple, but don’t sleep on these fries because while they may be healthy, they are filled with flavor, crispy, and just so darn good!

Ingredients

  • 7 potatoes, peeled

  • Salt & Pepper, to taste

  • Avocado Oil or EVOO

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Preheat oven to 375F

  • Peel all the potatoes

  • Slice potatoes long ways into about 3-4 slices, depending on how thick your potato is; then cut those slices long ways into 1/4 inch strips to make your fries

  • Add the slices of potatoes into a gallon sized ziplock bag

  • Season liberally with salt and pepper into the bag

  • Drizzled oil into the bag, zip the bag closed and give it a good shake, making sure to massage the salt, pepper and oil into the potatoes

  • Let the potatoes sit in the bag for about 10 minutes to absorb all the flavors of the seasoning

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place all the fries on the baking sheet, making sure to have them flat and not overlapping each other

  • In a preheated oven, bake the fires for about an hour or so depending on how thick/thin the fries are. Throughout the baking time, turn the fries maybe once or twice. Then at the end crank up the oven and broil them for about 3 mins for extra crispiness!
